Don't Judge Me

Another nail biting day in court! Honestly, I didn't think it would be so much like TV. The lawyers are straight out of the show Shark. The young good looking prosecuting atty with his beautiful model-turned-law-student assistant, starkly contrasted by the sharp dressed and slightly shifty defense atty. There are diagrams, photographs, CSI's, objections, all that good stuff. Its also not short on drama! The attys have made no attempts to hide their apparent disgust for each other by shooting sneers and rolling eyes when they get "over ruled" or "sustained". I'll keep an eye roll tally when I'm back in the box on Monday. Oh, and the jury is full of characters. One of every personality type; the loud lady praising WalMart, the big union guy booming about the government, the little lady acting surprised at every topic of conversation, like every word is a new one, the young blonde girl with lots of make up and a massive diamond ring, the older man, weathered by his 7th jury service, the middle aged woman complaining about every possible thing, and me, in the corner with my nose in a book turning up my ipod every 2 minutes trying to block them all out. Its truly surreal.
Here's a picture of Mt. Rainier from the courthouse, please note the wonderful elusive blue sky. So pretty.

Perjury

Had to go in for jury duty today. It was rough getting up at 6a after going to bed at 3a, but they still selected me for a case that should run through next week. Its a good one too, no murder or anything gross, but man, I can't wait to spill the beans when this things over! In the selection process the prosecuting atty and defending atty were asking everyone questions supposedly to see who would make the best panel. What they were really doing was blowing a bunch of smoke and trying to befriend us, there wasn't an eyeroll dramatic enough for the ridiculous show they were putting on. I can tell this is going to be interesting wading through all of their nonsense. I'll try and keep you up on the process, I'm going to sleep now.

So Good, Like You

My roommate and I have been obsessed with this recipe and have eaten nothing else for about 3 weeks now. I strongly recommend making it as soon as possible so you can love it too.

Bulgar Fantastic

2/3 c medium grind wheat bulgar
1 2/3 c water
juice from 1 lemon (about 1/3c)
1 cucumber, peeled and diced
1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
1/2 c chopped red onion
1/2 c chopped curly parsley
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 c crumbed feta (2oz)
salt & pepper to taste!

In a saucepan, combine bulgar, water & 2 Tbsp of the lemon juice; bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until tender, stirring occasionally, about 15 min. Set aside to cool.

In a bowl add oil, parsley, onion, cucumber, remaining lemon juice, tomatoes, feta, & salt and Pepper. Toss to combine.

Stir cooled bulgar into mixture and enjoy! I like it chilled about an hour in the fridge. I also like you.
