Jambo!

We finally found wifi! There are lots of "cyber cafes" here but little wifi access unless you purchase a special USB thingy...if only the iPad had a USB port! The only place with wifi is in a new "mall" built in the richer suburb with a French cafe that all the white tourist from all over Europe seem to congregate. If you havn't seen it in the world news I will bring you up to date on the war going on here in Kenya. On the Somali boarder which is the northern border of Kenya there is Al Shibab, a radical muslim terrorist pirate group that controls most of Somalia. Needless to say, they are attacking whites in Kenya to cause problems for Kenyan tourism, a huge source of income, and upset the US as we are helping Kenya. So, nothing like hanging out in a cafe full of white people to create a danger zone! In order to get in the mall there are a ton of security and you need to be searched and metal detected. The cafe is very exposed on one side so it feels a little scary no matter what. Overall the risk is very low, there has been no violence in Mombasa nor any threats at all(I have an app for that). The majority of the problems have been near the northern boarder and we are at the southern boarder. The things we do for wifi! now, we have some catching up to do! Oh, and the blogging from the iPad is a little rough, I cannot label the pictures. So, I will post some words then the pictures and you are on your own. When I get home I'll add captions! Love ya! Jill

When traveling, connection to the internet is a lifeline, an addiction, a luxury, and a wonderful, pragmatic way to record your memories.
