There are a million reasons why my mom is the single most amazing woman I know. Now shes adding to the list by defending her thesis on the magical Walker Lake. I'm heading down Thursday to Reno to witness the completion of what she has worked so long and so hard on for the last 3 years. In the process she has become a highly respected expert in aquatic invertebrates and Nevada. My grandma has discovered her potential as a research assistant putting in hours at the microscope counting bugs. My brother and his massive brain has proved himself invaluable as the nit picky editor of all things scholastic. My father, the supporter, my aunt, provider of mental escape with great stories, my uncle, field assistant and my grandpa and myself who have just watched in awe as mom has plowed through and learned and taught us so much about perseverance and potential. Thank you mom, and I love you.
Congratulations

you are the best of me
I'm excited to have a new room to decorate and a new garden to build. I spend most of my non-chemistry thoughts on all the possibilities. I think my room will look like this:
The pic is from the Jupiter Hotel in Portland. I think the room is perfect.

Your Sunsets
nudes
Its not illegal to go around naked in Seattle. That is of course unless you offend someone and they call the police, then you can be arrested. There were naked protesters on bikes riding through the city last weekend. I was lucky enough to witness this. 3 were later arrested for being offensive. You must be a good looking naked person. Offensive? You decide. At least they were wearing their helmets! Click on the pics to enlarge.

one to one
Went to the Mac store yesterday to look at computers and oh man is the iphone cool!! I didn't mean to get so distracted, but wow, that thing is fun! I picked out a computer, hopefully I can purchase it in the next month or so. Then I will be able to post pics from my new camera. Does anybody have office for mac laying around? Maybe i'll work some overtime and get that iphone too.

Clean Slate
Rainy summer day. I found a new home, its big, lots of gardening potential. Its in Ballard, the new "hip" area of Seattle. Its near my favorite margarita joint, which may have swayed my opinion. Its a 3 bedroom duplex with a full garage and back yard. I'm going to have a roommate, my friend shannon, and her dog diesel who is a french bulldog. I'm a busy busy girl and moving in the next few weeks is going to be stressful but i'm optimistic. Pictures to come. I have a chemistry exam tomorrow so think smart for me.

Summer Nights and Summer Days
My 2 favorite recipes this week.
Ginger Lemonade
1" piece of ginger
Frozen Lemonade (I use the trader joes one, its pretty good)
4 c water plus some
Peel ginger and cut into chunks. Place 4c water in pot. Using a garlic press, juice/crush ginger into water. Bring to rolling boil over high heat. Once at full boil, remove from heat allow to cool to room temp. Place frozen lemonade in pitcher. Using a fine mesh strainer over pitcher pour ginger water into pitcher, then add ice to amount indicated on lemonade container. Stir Drink Add Vodka(optional) Enjoy
Tomato Salad
All this stuff is at the farmers markets right now, so get it there.
6 med tomatos, seeds removed and chopped
1 med cucumber, chopped
1 sm red onion finely chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 c cilantro, chopped, no stems
1-2 tbsp olive oil
1-2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
In a med bowl combine tomatos, cucumber, onions, S & P, and cilantro. Toss to mix. Add oil and vinegar and toss again, eat immediately. You can half this, it kinda makes a lot but its really good and you'll want to eat a lot.

Birthday #1
7.3.7 Up early, breakfast, school, beach, book, beeer, and brownies. Perfect.
Cocoa Krispys-special bday treat.
The little girl in the picture came over to my blanket and just sat down and started talking about how she was in the water, her feet couldn't touch and she almost died and no one was saving her. She hung out for a good half hour talking and talking. cute.
best book EVER.
not so sure this is flattering

leak scandal
Class is killing me this week. I have a million pictures from the weekend, my friends took me biking to the Red Hook Brewery, a long trip(30mi!) but so so fun! My booty still hurts from the bike seat. No luck on homes yet but I'm starting to feel better about leaving mine since the water stopped working in the shower and started coming out of the ceiling in the kitchen. Bumming showers is not cool. Going to look at computers Friday, yay for university discounts! Supposed to be 92 degrees this week, I love it, wish it was 92 everyday, can't wait to lounge at the beach and swim in the lake!

I'm lucky.
Kelly, my ambulance partner, is awsome! I came to work Wednesday to find the ambulance filled with balloons, plants, presents, cake and tons of happy birthday signage, it was amazing!! We took pictures all day, played with balloons, ate lots of kettle corn(i ate most of it), blew bubbles, & popped those loud popper things. My cake melted in the middle from the candle inferno. It was almost like I wasn't at work, except for the pesky calls we got all day. She has more on her blog, so go look, you have to scroll down. Also her pics here.
Thank you so, so much Kelly for such a great day.

geek squad
I have so many great pictures, but my computer is officially toast. I took it to Best Buy for the computer people to work their magic. They played with it awhile, I explained the issues, they laughed at me, then at my computer and told me to buy a new one. Apparently my memory is inadequate and my megabytes are the lowest amount you can get. I've been told worse but I guess I have some shopping to do. I'm looking at a Mac, but I'm open to suggestions. Mom and Dad bought me a new camera for my bday so i'm excited to have a computer that can handle it!! My days of free hand me down computers are over. 29 is expensive!

Happy B to me!
Yesterday was my bday, it was great! I took a lot of pictures but my computer isn't working again.
I woke up and went to chemistry, then grabbed my book(i'm reading the best book ever right now!!) and swimsuit and layed on the beach at the lake and watched people swim. It was perfect! Then I read some more in my back yard and drank a beer. I went to Pesos for happy hour and had nachos and jalapenos and margaritas. So good! Then I went to watch the Storm kill the Sparks, then the Mecca with some friends, so fun! Thank you everyone for the great phone messages and e-mails and mail and calls. So great, I'm so lucky!
Happy 4th everyone, i'll be working, so be safe!
ps read Animal Vegetable Miracle by B. Kingsolver, it so great!!
